Have you ever started a new year and  set yourself a bunch of amazing goals, only to forget about all of them before the year is even a quarter of the way through ? There's a book titled "One word that will change your life" that only takes 45 minutes to read, but will give you all the necessary tools to discover your one word for the year. How to improve stress & anxiety by changing what you eat

Anxiety & depression affect almost 20% of Americans - that's a staggeringly high number! And while there's mixed opinions on whether medications should be used more or less to help treat these ailments, there's one thing for sure - and that is cleaning up what we eat will always help, even if just a little. In fact many people have been able to overcome the need for any medication at all by changing their diet and incorporating certain vitamins & minerals. Research is showing that one of the major causes of depression and anxiety is a deficiency in a range of vital nutrients that are necessary for our brains to function at their best. We all deal with stress every single day, but why do some people handle it easily yet others can fall into a deep depression at the drop of a hat? This deficiency in key vitamins & minerals may be a very important piece of the puzzle! So, what foods and vitamins should we all be getting more of (but especially those who str...

In this episode we provide all the tips and tricks you need to start incorporating fasting into your life, whether you're a beginner or looking to increase how much fasting you do. We hope you enjoy this episode, and please feel free to share it with your friends and family.   Check out this episode!

Are You Suffering From ING Syndrome?

How we experience pain is unique to each and every person. Research has shown that how we feel pain depends on what’s currently going on in our heads, our lives, and how we feel about the situation and event. A great example is one study performed where participants were hooked up to a fake simulator that did nothing at all to them, but they were told it would send electrical currents through their head. The participants actually felt pain equivalent to the amount of current they were told they would experience. Isn’t that amazing??!! And this is just one of many other studies that shows that if we expect to feel pain, we will actually feel pain. The amount of pain we feel can even be influenced by who is around us at the time. In one study male participants tolerated a much higher level of pain if it was a female testing their threshold levels. So when it comes to pain, it’s very important that you watch out for what you’re thinking and feeling with regards to it. ...

Is The Keto Diet Right For You?

In this episode we discuss the Keto lifestyle and why following certain universal health principles will always lead to better health, whereas just trying to follow short term diets rarely, if ever works! Why you should try the Keto Diet (If you haven't already)

You've heard us say before that diets don't work in the long term. And while we stand by that statement, if you follow the keto diet as more of a long term lifestyle system rather than as a short term diet then you will reap a LOT of different health benefits. However, the basic Keto diet, in our opinion, is missing a few crucial pieces. Dr. Josh Axe has written a great book titled " Keto Diet " where he does a great job filling in the holes from the standard Keto diet system. Remember too that the Keto diet is essentially based on healthy universal principles so it'll still work for you whether you follow it religiously or loosely. We will certainly be going deeper into the workings of the Keto diet in some other blogs and podcasts, but for now let's look at some of the fundamental principles to making it work for you. And of course the different foods we list below are not all inclusive but just trying to give you some ideas. Superfats  - At any time...

Why you need to incorporate fasting into your life

We all know that we need to focus on eating high quality foods. But we can't ignore when NOT to eat! Not eating, or fasting as it's technically known, plays a vitally important role in allowing the human body to function at it's best. Why? Because we aren't designed to function when continuously fed. Think back to our ancestors, who often went without food for long periods of time. We're actually designed to not just survive, but thrive under those circumstances. So don't let the food industry convince you otherwise - we DON'T need 3 square meals & snacks all day long! Fasting might see like a new fad, but it's actually the oldest dietary invention in the world. 2 books that are a must read if you want to understand more about fasting are " The Complete Guide To Fasting" by Dr. Jason Fung, and " Fat For Fuel " by Dr. Joseph Mercola. Current research shows that the average American has as many as 15.5 separate eating ev...

Infantile Colic - irritating for the baby, painful for the parents!

In today's episode we discuss what colic is, what the potential causes are, and what the science shows are the safest and most effective methods for helping your little one get through their suffering. Infantile Colic Part 2 - the science shows that Chiropractic often does reduce the symptoms of colic!

Let's look at what the current research says about Chiropractic and colic, as the far majority shows that Chiropractic can greatly decrease crying times in babies suffering from colic. There's also a study we will mention that is often misinterpreted and used to say Chiropractic doesn't help colic, when that's not what the study showed at all! A 2011 article in the Journal Explore by Dr. Joel Alcantara reviewed the literature relating to Chiropractic and colic. They reviewed the 26 different pieces of literature that they could find, which included:  3 clinical trials  2 survey studies 6 case reports 2 case series 4 cohort studies 5 commentaries 4 literature reviews                        From these 26 articles they were able to conclude that Chiropractic is both safe and effective for treating infantile colic . They did acknowledge that there were some design flaws in some of the studies, as is ofte...

Infantile Colic Part 1 - What is it and why does it happen?

Anytime a baby is upset, seemingly in pain, and crying inconsolably it will create heartache for the parents. The heartache becomes so much worse when it's happening consistently due to their baby suffering from infantile colic. So what is infantile colic? The medical diagnosis of colic is given when a baby cries inconsolably for more than 3 hours a day; for 3 or more days a week; for at least 3 weeks (The 3/3/3 rule) It affects up to 40% infants worldwide, p eaks at 6 weeks and usually resolves by 3-6 months of age It often causes physical and emotional stress for the parents and can regularly lead to marital or job disruption, and it is even linked to child abuse! Possibly the m ost frustrating thing of all is that we don’t even know the true cause. Also frustrating is that medical interventions are generally ineffective. A number of theories do exist as to why some kids experience colic, including: alterations in fecal microflora; lactose intolerance; mate...

Is Chiropractic safe for infants? What does the science show?

There’s a fear that if you take your baby to a chiropractor they’re going to “crack” your baby's spine. This should NEVER happen. Chiropractors who are trained in pediatric adjusting use extremely gentle “eyeball” pressure that wouldn’t even bruise a tomato because the younger a child is, the more sensitive their Nervous System and the less pressure needed.  In fact most parents are shocked at how little pressure is used, and there certainly should never be any twisting or forces that resemble an adult adjustment until the child is much older! All Chiropractors who are trained to work on infants, like all of our doctors are, will totally modify the way they adjust infants and babies, and we have personally adjusted thousands of babies in our offices and not once have we ever been nervous that we are going to hurt the little one in front of us! There’s actually a mountain of research published showing that chiropractic care for infants and kids is both safe and ...

The Body's Power House: The Immune System

So many of us (including many health and medical professionals) underestimate the POWER of the immune system! Our body’s immune system is amazing and can defeat close to anything that faces it as long as it is looked after and nurtured. Instead of looking at health as building up our immune system and giving it everything it needs to function at 100%, we instead try to target the symptoms and the bugs that we think cause the illness in the first place. Look what happens when we catch a cold. We dole out medicine immediately to deal with the symptoms of congestion, fever, coughing and so on instead of recognizing that our body is actually expressing health via these symptoms - the fever is killing the germs and our cough is our body expelling the mucus that has trapped the invading bugs. There are so many medications out there that you are being told to consume that would not be given to you if you were healthy because those drugs will make your body sick. Yet when someone ...

Are You A Control Freak?!

Maybe the biggest irony in the world is that we all try to control other people and other events, instead of putting in the effort to control our own reactions, responses, and emotions. Instead, we just let those run on autopilot. The hard truth is that we cannot actually control anyone else or any other event. Those things are going to happen regardless of what we want. Your flight can get cancelled. Your daughter might spill grape juice all over the carpet. Your boss might be a jerk! The only thing we can control is our perspective and choices we make in response to those people and events. Try and flip this around in your favor. Every time you catch yourself trying to control someone else or another event, STOP IT! Instead, only focus on controlling your response and your reaction. It will lead to a lot more happiness; better health because of less stress; and a much better adaptability to change. You will be able to go through life without your boat getting as rocked as it us...
