5 things you MUST know to help plantar fasciitis

If you have ever suffered from plantar fasciitis then you would know that it can be extremely painful, is very hard to heal from, can completely disrupt your life, and can last for a very long time!

If you suffer from this debilitating condition, what can you do to fix it? Unfortunately many people are told of the "one magic bullet" that will miraculously heal it, but are then left disappointed when they are still suffering 2 years later!

Like almost all health conditions, plantar fasciitis is not caused by just one thing - there are always a combination of things that are behind this awful pain, and to get the fastest resolution you need to address all of these causes!

So, what is plantar fasciitis? It is a very painful inflammatory reaction in the fascia on the bottom of your foot - kind of like a tendonitis, but just a different type of tissue that connects the heel bone to your toes - that gets worse first thing in the morning after you have been off your feet all night.

What can you do to get rid of plantar fasciitis?

1. Roll the bottom of your foot over a golf ball or a frozen bottle of water for a few minutes every night. The hard object as well as ice on the foot will help massage and calm down the swollen and inflamed tissue.

2. Stretch your calf muscles multiple times a day. In our upcoming video series we will show you how to stretch these muscles, but the easiest ways are to either stretch while standing on a stair and letting your heal drop, or the "push the wall over" stretch. You cannot suffer from plantar fasciitis without significantly tight calf muscles.

3. Address the dropped arches in your feet. This doesn't always mean you need orthotics, but severe cases will require them (make sure they are soft orthotics). More importantly, find a Chiropractor who deals with extremity joints and get your feet adjusted as the joints become stuck and lose normal mobility before the fascia even gets inflamed.

4. Get your pelvis and hips adjusted by a Chiropractor. A misaligned pelvis will cause stress on the feet, and inflamed feet with poor arches will cause stress on your pelvis and low back.

5. Get new shoes if you are a runner. You need shoes with the correct support for your foot shape. For those who are local to Papillion and Sarpy county, we highly recommend "Peak Performance" in Bellevue. They are extremely knowledgeable and do a great job fitting you in the correct shoe.

Nothing is ever guaranteed, but if you do everything listed above, you have the best chance of beating it quickly, especially if you start as soon as symptoms appear.

Chiropractic And Risks - Can An Adjustment Actually Cause A Stroke?

There is constantly false information being spread about Chiropractic. But the reality is we have a safety record that is the envy of all other health and medical professions. Perhaps the most dangerous false myth is that Chiropractic care can, in rare circumstances cause a particular type of stroke involving the arteries in the neck. However the research completely contradicts this. We spend this short episode explaining the truth! Check out this episode!

Chiropractic And Injury Prevention

As research performed in the last few decades has shown, Chiropractic is known to change & improve various aspects of nervous system function, including motor control, brain reaction times, and brain cognitive processing (the speed with which our brain processes information). So, it makes sense that if any of these areas are lacking then you should be at greater risk for injury, especially when we are talking low back injuries (due to how important brain control is over the vitally important spinal muscles). We know that if you can’t activate your trunk and core muscles before rapidly moving an arm, this can potentially result in a strain or sprain of the low back. This is known as the feed forward mechanism - if our spine doesn't first stabilize properly before we move our limbs then we greatly increase our risk of injury at the spinal level. These injuries usually start as microscopic injuries that we don't even notice but like everything else they continue to b
