Are your goals SMART?

As you plan for the New Year and set some amazing goals for 2021, make sure you set S.M.A.R.T goals.

It doesn't matter whether your goals are for better health, work related, based around family, or anything else, if you don't set them correctly in the first place then they almost certainly will drop out of sight, out of mind and never be accomplished.

But, if your goals really are important to you, then take the time to plan them properly by running them through the S.M.A.R.T filters.

S - Specific. Don't just say you want to lose weight. You could lose 1 pound today and you've technically been successful as you lost weight. Write down exactly how much you plan to use. You can have the world's greatest GPS navigation system in your car but if you don't have a clear destination to enter in then you'll never get there. So think about what exactly do you want to accomplish and why?

M - Measurable. If we can't measure it we can't track it or monitor it.

A - Achievable. Can you realistically achieve this goal? If you're currently not exercising at all and you want to improve your health don't make the goal of 7 workouts a week. Start with 3 sessions a week. Then once you build your habit you can expand from that. Sometimes we shoot so high with our goals that it's impossible to reach and then we feel like a failure and thus stop setting goals altogether!

R - Relevant. This is all about why. Why do you want to achieve that specific goal? Because a well set goal should push us to have to stretch, and grow, and make touch choices, and take discipline. None of those things are easy, so if the goal isn't important we will simply give up at the first sign of a challenge. But if you're suffering major health issues and you desperately want to be around to enjoy your grandchildren's lives, then it's much easier to take those hard steps towards regaining your health again!

T - Time-Bound. What is the time frame for accomplishing the goal? As humans we are a funny creature - the closer a deadline gets, the more action we tend to take. So without the pressure of a timeline to achieve your goals, the whirlwind of life will take over and your goal will get swept away and quickly forgotten.

Bonus piece - share your goals with someone who will keep you accountable!

So what are your goals for 2021? Do you want to improve your health, or change some money habits? Do you have some major career goals, or will 2021 be more about you and improving your mental state? Do you need to change the type of people you're spending your time with, or do you need to reconnect more to your spirit or religion?

We'd love to hear what amazing goals you have set for 2021!

Chiropractic And Risks - Can An Adjustment Actually Cause A Stroke?

There is constantly false information being spread about Chiropractic. But the reality is we have a safety record that is the envy of all other health and medical professions. Perhaps the most dangerous false myth is that Chiropractic care can, in rare circumstances cause a particular type of stroke involving the arteries in the neck. However the research completely contradicts this. We spend this short episode explaining the truth! Check out this episode!

Chiropractic And Injury Prevention

As research performed in the last few decades has shown, Chiropractic is known to change & improve various aspects of nervous system function, including motor control, brain reaction times, and brain cognitive processing (the speed with which our brain processes information). So, it makes sense that if any of these areas are lacking then you should be at greater risk for injury, especially when we are talking low back injuries (due to how important brain control is over the vitally important spinal muscles). We know that if you can’t activate your trunk and core muscles before rapidly moving an arm, this can potentially result in a strain or sprain of the low back. This is known as the feed forward mechanism - if our spine doesn't first stabilize properly before we move our limbs then we greatly increase our risk of injury at the spinal level. These injuries usually start as microscopic injuries that we don't even notice but like everything else they continue to b
