There is some amazing research being performed showing us that Chiropractic care for
adults can be a great boost to your health, function, and quality of life as
you age.
Age brings wisdom, but also potential health
problems such as memory loss, falls, arthritis, depression and anxiety, hearing
and vision issues, and a host of other problems.
However getting old doesn’t have to lead to an
inevitable decline in health. In fact, just because something has become extremely common definitely does NOT mean that it is normal! A concept known as healthy aging does actually
exist, regardless of what your genetics and hereditary history show.
Your choices and actions can postpone or even
reduce some of the undesirable effects of aging. The goal of healthy aging is to maintain
physical and mental health; avoid diseases & disorders, and remain active
and independent.
Of course it requires effort but the results are
well worth it.
Chiropractic care is an essential cornerstone of achieving healthy aging. This is because chiropractors are in a unique position to help
you maintain and even improve your overall function, health, and quality of
life.
Let’s look at some recent studies that show how Chiropractic care has a protective role.
2 studies at The University of Iowa published in 2014
looked at normal activities of daily living and how they become more difficult
as we age. The researchers compared thousands of elderly patients and their health outcomes over a number of years, and also looked at whether they went to a Chiropractor versus a medical
doctor only for health issues to see if the groups had any noticeable differences.
They compared their general health status and
their ability to carry out these activities of daily living (this basically means normal day to day things like driving a car, taking out the trash, doing normal housework, sitting or standing for normal periods of time without pain etc).
They found that the people who received regular Chiropractic care maintained their ability to carry out these activities and
had a higher self rated health status compared to those who received medical
care only.
The older adults who saw Chiropractors
maintained their ability to live independently, look after themselves and
preserve their health. Those who did not see Chiropractors saw a notable
decline in these areas.
These studies suggest that older adults who
receive Chiropractic care are in a better position to live independently, look after
themselves, and just feel healthier overall.
So it’s very likely that Chiropractic care
really can add life to our years!
Choose Chiropractic care for yourself and your family
to reap the benefits of healthy living and healthy aging!
