Why do I always get sick? Is it just bad luck?

Have you ever wondered why some people can be in a confined public space like on a plane and they get sick as soon as someone sneezes, yet someone else can be seated next to a person who is coughing up a lung for the entire 4 hour flight and they never seem to get sick at all?

Are some people just unlucky? Did they inherit bad genetics from their parents and grandparents? On that note, if your parents seemed to catch every cold and flu that was going around, does that mean you are doomed to the same fate?

What if I told you the good news is that no one reading this blog right now is doomed to get sick every time "flu season" rolls around.

If you want to avoid getting sick, then it is actually as simple as this - do more things that increase the strength of our immune system, and do less things that decrease its strength. That's it!

But the bad news is, while this sounds very simple, it's not easy. Unfortunately staying healthy requires discipline, and lots of it. There is an endless list of all the things you should and shouldn't do, but I want to share some of the most powerful things that you can start (or stop) doing right now.

And remember, the key isn't to be perfect, as that is impossible. The key is to do more and more things that push the odds in your favor. When you do mess up, go easy on yourself, and just try better the next day.

The DO's that increase our immune function:

  • Consume more vitamin D3 supplements.
  • Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
  • Exercise more.
  • Eat more real foods, especially any vegetable that is green! And preferably organic.
  • Drink more water.
  • Positive thoughts and life fulfillment.
  • Get adjusted by a Chiropractor.
The DON'Ts that decrease our immune function:
  • Sugar! Sugar! Sugar!
  • Fast food
  • Emotional and mental stress.
  • Fatigue from all work and no play (i.e. vacations)
While nothing can ever guarantee that you won't get sick, I can guarantee that if you followed even half of those recommendations, you will get sick a lot less than you currently do. Then you don't have to run for cover if you have a bunch of sick co-workers creating a petri dish of infection in your workplace!

Chiropractic And Injury Prevention

As research performed in the last few decades has shown, Chiropractic is known to change & improve various aspects of nervous system function, including motor control, brain reaction times, and brain cognitive processing (the speed with which our brain processes information). So, it makes sense that if any of these areas are lacking then you should be at greater risk for injury, especially when we are talking low back injuries (due to how important brain control is over the vitally important spinal muscles). We know that if you can’t activate your trunk and core muscles before rapidly moving an arm, this can potentially result in a strain or sprain of the low back. This is known as the feed forward mechanism - if our spine doesn't first stabilize properly before we move our limbs then we greatly increase our risk of injury at the spinal level. These injuries usually start as microscopic injuries that we don't even notice but like everything else they continue to b

Chiropractic And Risks - Can An Adjustment Actually Cause A Stroke?

There is constantly false information being spread about Chiropractic. But the reality is we have a safety record that is the envy of all other health and medical professions. Perhaps the most dangerous false myth is that Chiropractic care can, in rare circumstances cause a particular type of stroke involving the arteries in the neck. However the research completely contradicts this. We spend this short episode explaining the truth! Check out this episode!
