5 ways to naturally manage migraines

If you, or someone close to you suffers from migraines then I'm sure you know and appreciate how debilitating it can be. It literally leaves people with no other choice but to lock themselves away in a dark, quiet room until the migraine passes. It is miserable!

Too many sufferers are told that the only option they have is to take frequent doses of heavy medication whenever they feel their symptoms coming on. But this isn't the only option. In fact there are many natural options that have been proven to work for people over the years, so here are 5 of the most effective ones:

1. Drink enough water. Drink half your body weight in fluid ounces at least, more if you are working outside in the heat and sweating a lot.  Dehydration is one of the most common causes that leads to or exacerbates  headaches and migraines.
2. Clean up your diet. Food triggers are probably the most common cause of migraines. So start with a detox diet where you remove all of the common triggers such as sugar, dairy, and gluten and then if that helps, add them back in one at a time so you can document what causes flare-ups so you know which foods to avoid.
3. Cut back on alcohol and caffeine. Both are known triggers of migraines. You can still indulge, but find your limits and make it more of an occasional thing.
4. Find a supportive pillow. When you're lying down for 6-8 hours a night on a pillow that doesn't provide the right support, then you develop irritation and inflammation in the sensitive neck joints and muscles which then leads to headaches and migraines.
5. Get assessed by a Chiropractor. Chiropractic alone won't always clear your migraines if there are other issues such as food triggers, but in almost every case a Chiropractic adjustment will at least calm down the migraine symptoms and lessen your need for medication.

Chiropractic And Injury Prevention

As research performed in the last few decades has shown, Chiropractic is known to change & improve various aspects of nervous system function, including motor control, brain reaction times, and brain cognitive processing (the speed with which our brain processes information). So, it makes sense that if any of these areas are lacking then you should be at greater risk for injury, especially when we are talking low back injuries (due to how important brain control is over the vitally important spinal muscles). We know that if you can’t activate your trunk and core muscles before rapidly moving an arm, this can potentially result in a strain or sprain of the low back. This is known as the feed forward mechanism - if our spine doesn't first stabilize properly before we move our limbs then we greatly increase our risk of injury at the spinal level. These injuries usually start as microscopic injuries that we don't even notice but like everything else they continue to b

Chiropractic And Risks - Can An Adjustment Actually Cause A Stroke?

There is constantly false information being spread about Chiropractic. But the reality is we have a safety record that is the envy of all other health and medical professions. Perhaps the most dangerous false myth is that Chiropractic care can, in rare circumstances cause a particular type of stroke involving the arteries in the neck. However the research completely contradicts this. We spend this short episode explaining the truth! Check out this episode!

The Biggest Myth Around Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X)

There’s no official cause behind Metabolic Syndrome, although it’s treated in a very similar way to Type 2 diabetes - drugs! But, what if we are looking at these conditions the completely wrong way? In my opinion, both metabolic syndrome and Type 2 diabetes start out as a protective mechanism, where the body is trying to protect itself against the massive blood sugar spikes and inflammation created by the poor diets so many of us consume these days. The combination of processed sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and nasty vegetable oils (and other seed oils) are ruining the body, so it tries to protect itself. But this only works in the short term before the insulin resistance starts to kick in. I’ve seen so many people reverse these conditions through massive lifestyle changes that in my opinion, medications should ONLY be used short term (if at all) while teaching the person how to start reversing everything. In this episode I cover the lifestyle changes you’ll need to implement
