How To Productively Work From Home

There's a special art to productively working from home that requires a lot of differences in routines and procedures to working in an office environment, and right now a lot of us are just finding this out!

So here's some tips and tricks, in no particular order, to working productively from home:

  • Set up a proper office space if you don't already have one. This doesn't mean you need to go and buy an expensive desk and chair, but working from the couch is going to wreck your back, and working from any room other than a designated office space is going to lead to distraction after distraction.
  • Set a solid structure with daily routines that don't change from day to day, similar to how you would if you were going into work at the same time each day. Get up at the same time every day, workout at the same time and so on.
  • Use this time to take advantage of continuing or even increasing your exercise levels. Now that it's warming up get outside multiple times a day - whether for a 5 minute work break or for a run/walk. Incorporate some body weight type workouts each day (think burpees, squats, push ups etc). If you're not sure what to do for workouts with no gym equipment, search on google and you'll find thousands of different workout plans
  • You can be even more productive than in an office setting because you can do chores like laundry while on conference calls, and other options like that.
  • Utilize the pomodoro technique - this involves setting a timer for a certain amount of time, say 30 minutes and you do completely uninterrupted work and then when the times goes off, take a 15 minute break to walk outside, or stretch, or eat, or listen to music, and then you start the next cycle.
  • If you're still struggling to stay focused, play classical music in the background as that's been shown to help the brain focus.
  • Last thing - give yourself some grace. For some of you the biggest decision you'll have to make is what pants should you wear. Your kids will distract you, things will go wrong. Laugh at it, reset, and do the best you can!

What other tips and tricks have you used successfully to work productively from home?

Chiropractic And Injury Prevention

As research performed in the last few decades has shown, Chiropractic is known to change & improve various aspects of nervous system function, including motor control, brain reaction times, and brain cognitive processing (the speed with which our brain processes information). So, it makes sense that if any of these areas are lacking then you should be at greater risk for injury, especially when we are talking low back injuries (due to how important brain control is over the vitally important spinal muscles). We know that if you can’t activate your trunk and core muscles before rapidly moving an arm, this can potentially result in a strain or sprain of the low back. This is known as the feed forward mechanism - if our spine doesn't first stabilize properly before we move our limbs then we greatly increase our risk of injury at the spinal level. These injuries usually start as microscopic injuries that we don't even notice but like everything else they continue to b

Chiropractic And Risks - Can An Adjustment Actually Cause A Stroke?

There is constantly false information being spread about Chiropractic. But the reality is we have a safety record that is the envy of all other health and medical professions. Perhaps the most dangerous false myth is that Chiropractic care can, in rare circumstances cause a particular type of stroke involving the arteries in the neck. However the research completely contradicts this. We spend this short episode explaining the truth! Check out this episode!
